MSJC Softball Picks up Two Wins Over the Weekend

The MSJC softball team picked up two wins in five games over the weekend as they hosted a tournament in Menifee Friday through Sunday.

The Lady Eagles kicked off the tourney on Friday with a 5-3 win over Victor Valley College and then dropped a close one to Chaffey 8-7 in their second game of the day.  On Saturday MSJC played just one game and fell to Saddleback 9-3 after entering the 7th inning in a 3-3 tie.  The Lady Eagles bounced back on Sunday morning as they brought out the big bats to defeat College of the Desert 16-1, before rounding out the tournament with a dramatic 6-5 loss to Antelope Valley.

MSJC saw some big performances over the weekend from several players.  In the tough loss to Chaffey Kerry Hernandez had 3 hits and 3 RBIs while pitcher Hannah Morton hit a homerun.  In Saturday's game with Saddleback Sierra Yagle and Hernandez each picked up two hits.  In the win over Desert the Lady Eagles pounded out 14 hits with Yagle leading the way as she drove in a game high 4 runs.  Klarissa Garcia and Amanda Munoa both drove in two runs while Alisa Erl picked up the pitching victory.

MSJC is now 3-4 on the season and will be back in action on Wednesday when they host East Los Angeles College.  Wednesday's game on the Menifee Campus will begin at 2:30.
