MSJC Softball Team Dominates in Sweep of Barstow
The MSJC softball team swept Barstow College on Wednesday in a pair of non-conference games played in Barstow.
The Lady Eagles won the first game 11-0, behind a shut out on the mound from pitcher Jordan Sage. Sage went 5 innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 4 while only walking one. Angie Lopez drove in three runs for MSJC and also collected 3 hits. Ashley Brown also picked up 3 hits for the Lady Eagles and scored 3 times. Nicole Stressling and Amanda Munoa each had a double as MSJC pounded out 12 hits in the victory.
The Lady Eagles offense stayed hot in the second game as the won another shortened game this time by a score of 12-4. Jenna Chilson picked up the win in the circle for MSJC going 4 and 1/3 innings allowing just 1 earned run, she also picked up 3 RBIs at the plate. Nathalie Rocha had a huge offensive game as she picked up 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and crossed the plate four times. Sierra Falcon also chipped in with three hits and 2 runs driven in. Karina Hernandez got her first action of the season pitching as she closed out the game going the final 2/3 of an inning.
The two wins give MSJC a 3-1 mark for the season. The Lady Eagles will return to action this weekend when they travel to Allan Hancock College for a doubleheader on Saturday.
Nathalie Rocha had 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and scored 4 runs in game two of MSJC's softball sweep of Barstow. The Lady Eagles won by scores of 11-0 and 12-4 to improve to 3-1 on the season.
