The MSJC softball team had a busy weekend as they won one of three games they played. Friday MSJC let a lead get away in a 7-4 conference loss to Palomar, but bounced back to split a pair of non conference games on
Friday the Lady Eagles built a 4-1 lead, before a 5 run top of the 5th for Palomar gave them the advantage. MSJC could not score after that and fell 7-4 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game. Jena Chilson had 2 RBIs and Maegan Rowley and Angie Lopez each added one in the loss.
Sunday MSJC played two games in their President's Day Tournament held at Wheatfield Park in Menifee. In their first contest MSJC beat Rio Hondo in a slugfest 14-13. The game started quickly with Rio Hondo scoring 3 runs in the top of the first. The Lady Eagles immediately answered with 6 in the bottom half to take the lead. MSJC added 3 in the bottom of the third, 3 in the bottom of the fifth, and two in the bottom of the sixth to push their lead to 14-10, before holding off the Roadrunners in the 7th. Ashley Brown and Nana Oloa each had three hits while Tiffany Lee and Laekyn Causey each drove in 3 in the victory. MSJC had 16 hits in the win. MSJC finished their weekend with a 2-0 loss to Allan Hancock College. Sierra Falcon threw 6 solid innings in the circle for the Lady Eagles giving up just 3 hits and one earned run, but the MSJC offense was held to just 2 hits in the loss.
MSJC now stands at 3-8 overall on the season and 0-2 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they host San Diego Mesa on the Menifee Campus starting at 3 pm.
