The Lady Eagles and the Jaguars were locked in a scoreless battle until the fifth when Alyssa Rayls and Nicole Stressling were able to fight their way on base.  With two on and two out Ashley Brown came through with a two run triple, knocking in Rayls and Stressling for a 2-0 lead.  Jordan Sage slammed the door on Southwestern the rest of the way and MSJC came away with the win.  Sage finished the day going the distance as she threw 7 innings allowing just 4 hits and striking out 5 for the shut out.  Brown finished the day with 2 hits, giving her 55 on the season, the third highest total by an individual player in program history.

The win gives MSJC their best ever record in a season, as they finish the 2016 regular season at 22-17.  The Lady Eagles finished fourth in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a league mark of 9-9.  MSJC now has to wait and see if they are chosen for the Southern California Regional Tournament.  The pairings for the post season will be announced this weekend.
