Softball Season Off and Running

The MSJC softball team kicked off their season last week by sweeping San Bernardino Valley in a doubleheader played in Menifee.wintersforcod.jpg

The Lady Eagles got the season off to a 2-0 start as they beat the Wolverines 9-8 and 10-9.  In the first game Rayna Winters and Roni Alonzo each scored three runs to help MSJC to the victory.  Alonzo finished the game with 3 hits as well as she collected a single, a double, and a triple in the win.  In the second game Tiffany Lee scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI from Gaby Sanchez to give the Lady Eagles the victory.

This past weekend MSJC competed in the College of the Desert Tournament, where the Lady Eagles won one and lost three.  MSJC started the tournament on Friday with a tough 8-6 loss against Santa Monica.  In their second game on Friday the Lady Eagles rode 5 RBIs from Isabel Castellanos and three from Alejandra Navarro to a 14-6 victory over Porterville.  On Saturday MSJC ran into some stiff competition as the they dropped a game to Fullerton 9-1 and to Desert 10-7.

MSJC is now 3-3 on the season and they return to action on Friday February 7th when they travel to Barstow for a doubleheader.
