Softball Team Beats Imperial, Ties School Record for Victories
The MSJC softball team won 6-1 on Wednesday in their final home game of 2016 to tie the school record for victories in a season, with one game remaining.
The Lady Eagles scored one run in the bottom of the first and then added three in the fifth and two more in the sixth to grab the victory. Sierra Falcon pitched a complete game for the win as she went 7 innings allowing just one unearned run and giving up only four hits. Falcon struck out 5 and walked 5. Ashley Brown continued her monster season as she went 3 for 4 and scored three times. Brown now has 53 hits on the season, third most in program history, and is hitting .491 which would be the second highest average in school history. Wednesday she also had 2 RBIs. Jordan Sage, Angie Lopez, Jena Chilson, and Falcon each also added an RBI in the win.
MSJC improved to 21-17 with win, they are 8-9 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference games. The 21 wins ties the school record for victories in a season, the 2007 Lady Eagles went 21-25.
The Lady Eagles will finish the regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Chula Vista to take on Southwestern at 3 pm.
Ashley Brown had 3 hits on Wednesday as the MSJC softball team beat visiting Imperial Valley 6-1 in their final home game of 2016. With Brown's 3 hits in the game she now has 53 on the season which is the third highest single season total in program history.
