Softball Team Falls in PCAC Opener
The MSJC softball team had a tough fourth inning on Wednesday and could not get all the way back as they lost their Pacific Coast Athletic Conference season opener 6-2 to visiting Southwestern.
The Lady Eagles were right in the game for the first three innings as they trailed just 1-0 after three, but a five run top of the fourth for the Jaguars would push the contest out of reach. MSJC did answer with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth, but could not push any more runs across in the final three innings.
Gabby Sanchez and Maegan Rowley both had a hit and scored a run to lead the Lady Eagle offense. Jena Chilson took the loss pitching for MSJC as she went 4 innings before giving way to Sierra Falcon who pitched three scoreless innings in relief.
The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the PCAC while Southwestern remained unbeaten on the season at 4-0 and 1-0. MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they host Palomar at 3 pm. The Lady Eagles will also be hosting a tournament over the weekend with games Friday through Sunday at Wheatfield Park next to the Menifee Campus.
Gabby Sanchez went 1 for 3 and scored a run on Wednesday, but unfortunately it was not enough as the MSJC softball team lost their 2015 PCAC opener to visiting Southwestern 6-2.
