Softball Team Falls to First Place Palomar
The MSJC softball team fell to Pacific Coast Athletic Conference front runner Palomar on Friday in San Marcos by a score of 9-1.
The Lady Eagles and the Comets were locked in a tied game for three and a half innings, before Palomar was able to break the game open when they scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Comets would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to win by the eight run rule.
Five different Lady Eagles had a hit a piece in the loss. Ashley Brown, Jena Chilson, Angie Lopez, Jordan Sage, and Karina Hernandez each had a single with Lopez crossing the plate with MSJC's lone run of the game. Sage took the loss in the circle as she went 4 innings allowing 8 runs, while Sierra Falcon also surrendered one run.
The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 14-9 overall and 4-3 in PCAC play. The Comets who are ranked #3 in the state and #2 in the So Cal Region in the latest coaches' poll improved to 16-1 and 7-0. MSJC will be back in action this week with three games, the first two at home on the Menifee Campus. Tuesday the Lady Eagles are scheduled to take on Southwestern and Wednesday MSJC will host San Diego Mesa. Friday MSJC will hit the road when they travel to San Diego City. All three games this week are scheduled for 3 pm.
