Softball Team Picks Up Sweep of Santa Monica

The MSJC softball team picked up a pair of wins on Friday as they defeated Santa Monica twice in a doubleheader at Santa Monica.kristyconnor.jpg

In game one the Lady Eagles stormed back late in the game after trailing 8-4 to score 4 runs in the top of the seventh to force extra innings.  In the eighth MSJC forged ahead with 5 runs to pick up the 13-8 victory.  Aleena Bahling went the distance pitching allowing 4 earned runs for the victory.  Courtnie Brooks led the offensive attack with three hits including a double and a triple as she knocked in three runs.  Astrid Elizondo added three hits and two RBIs in the win.

In the second game three Lady Eagle pitchers combined to allow just one run as MSJC completed the sweep with a 5-1 win.  Brenda Patino started the game for MSJC and allowed 1 run before giving way to Kendra Williams who picked up the victory.  Bahling came in to shut the door for MSJC pitching the final two innings.  Kristy Connor was the hitting star in game two driving in three runs on two hits including a home run.

The Lady Eagles are now 5-12 on the season.  MSJC will travel to San Diego Mesa on Friday to finish a suspended game with the Olympians.
