Softball Team Rallies for Home Win
The MSJC softball team rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Wednesday to beat visiting Victor Valley 16-12 in Menifee.
The Lady Eagles trailed by as much as 10-2, before making the big comeback. With the score 10-2 MSJC scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to get back in the game. The six run fourth was highlighted by a three run homerun by MSJC centerfielder Kristy Connor. The Rams answered with two more runs in the top of the fifth to push the lead to 12-8, before the Lady Eagles late rally to win the game. In the 7 run sixth Connor added another RBI, but the big hit came off the bat of Noehly Alvarez who hit a bases loaded double to drive home three runs.
MSJC finished the day with 17 hits led by Connor's 4 for 4 effort. Alvarez finished the day 2 for 4 with 5 RBIs at the plate while picking up the pitching victory. Alvarez threw 5 innings allowing 5 runs, but none of them were earned.
The win improved MSJC's record to 7-19-1 overall and 3-8 in the Foothill Conference. The Lady Eagles will play their final home game of the season on Friday when they host College of the Desert. Friday's game will begin at 3 pm.
