Softball Team Splits DH at College of the Desert
The MSJC softball team split a pair of games on Wednesday when they traveled to College of the Desert. The Lady Eagles won the opener 8-3, but dropped the second contest 11-3.
In the first game MSJC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 2 and a half innings and added more runs in the top of the 5th and top of the 7th to put the game out of reach. The Lady Eagle offense pounded out 16 hits led by 4 from Ashley Brown and 3 from Jordan Sage. Sage, Sam Munoz, and Sierra Falcon each had 2 RBIs in the game while Angie Lopez and winning pitcher Jena Chilson both drove in one run. In the circle Chilson threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while walking just 1 and striking out 1. Falcon pitched the final two innings for MSJC allowing 1 run on 2 hits.
Desert responded in the second game as they took the easy victory in five innings, after erupting for 7 runs in the bottom of the third. Nicole Stressling and Falcon both had two hits in the loss while Lopez drove in 2 runs for the Lady Eagles. Sage took the pitching loss for MSJC.
The Lady Eagles are now 5-3 on the season and are getting set to host their annual tournament this weekend. MSJC will be hosting a two day event at Wheat Field Park just east of the Menifee Campus on Friday and Saturday. There will be games each day at 10 AM, noon, and 2 PM. The Lady Eagles will play Friday at 10 and 2 and Saturday at 12 and 2.
Angie Lopez had 3 RBIs in two games on Wednesday as she helped the MSJC softball team to a doubleheader split at College of the Desert. The Lady Eagles who are now 5-3 on the season will host a tournament this Friday and Saturday at Wheat Field Park in Menifee.
