Lady Eagle Volleyball Beats RCC, Splits on the Night

The MSJC volleyball team split a pair of matches at Riverside on Wednesday night as they defeated host RCC and lost a tough match to Mt. San Antonio.camrynbootsma-16.jpg

The Lady Eagles started the night with a 3 sets to 1 win over RCC as they won by scores of; 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, and 25-18.  The well balanced offense was led by Julia Balancier who had a match high 13 kills.  Luann O'Kane added 12 kills and Jade Bell had 9.  Setter Camryn Bootsma had a strong night as she passed out a match best 35 assists, she also picked up 6 digs.  Jeannie Hifo led the Lady Eagles in digs as she had 15 while Alexxis Carrillo and Hannah Schaffer each had a pair of blocks in the victory.

In the night's second match MSJC played strong, but came up short losing to Mt. San Antonio in four sets.  The Lady Eagles struggled in the first two sets as they fell 17-25, and 10-25, before rallying to take the third set 25-22 before losing the fourth 20-25.  Bootsma once again had a very solid match as she dished out 25 assists and played strong defense for MSJC.

The Lady Eagles now stand at 4-4 on the season and will have their 2016 home opener on Saturday night.  Saturday MSJC will host Santiago Canyon at 5 pm.

The MSJC volleyball team in conjunction with the Eagle football team and the Eagle Athletic Club will also be hosting the 2016 Kick-Off Tailgate Party on Saturday at Stadium Pizza.  The festivities will begin at 11 AM and include a meet and greet with head volleyball coach Serrina Eason and head football coach Casey Mazzotta.  Stadium Pizza is located at 701 W. Esplanade in San Jacinto and the Saturday's football game kicks off at 1pm.

Camryn Bootsma helped the Lady Eagles to a victory over RCC on Wednesday night as she passed out 35 assists and picked up 6 digs.  MSJC will host their home opener on Saturday night at 5 pm when they take on Santiago Canyon at the Eagles Nest.
