Lady Eagle Volleyball Team Can't Overcome Mira Costa
The MSJC women's volleyball team got off to a fast start on Wednesday night against visiting Mira Costa, but couldn't keep up the momentum and fell 3-0 in a key PCAC North Division match.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 16-10 lead in the first set, but the Spartans responded and came back to win the first 25-21. MSJC stayed close in the second set as well before Mira Costa rallied to win 25-19. The Spartans took control in set number three and completed the sweep with a 25-12 win. The match kept Mira Costa undefeated in conference play at 5-0, while the Lady Eagles fell to 3-2. Both of MSJC's conference losses are to Mira Costa.
Dayanerrah Taoete led the Lady Eagle offense on Wednesday night with 12 kills. Julia Balancier and Rozary Barrett both had 3. Camryn Bootsma led the defensive effort for MSJC with 11 digs, she also had 9 assists in the loss.
MSJC is now 13-7 overall on the season and will be back in action on Friday when they travel to San Bernardino Valley for a 5 pm match.
