Lady Eagle Volleyball Team Falls Twice at RCC Tourney

The MSJC volleyball team fell in two straight set losses on Friday at the Riverside City College Invitational as they dropped matches to Mt. San Antonio and RCC.sabrinalatteri.jpg

The Lady Eagles started the day with a 3-0 loss to Mt. SAC.  MSJC lost a close first set 25-19, before dropping the second 25-15, and the third 25-23.  Sabrina Latteri had 11 kills for the Lady Eagles to lead the offense, she was followed by Alexxis Carillo who had 7.  Dayanerrah Taoete had 11 assists and Hannah Schaffer had 10.  Latteri also led the defensive effort with 16 digs while Ashley Cork added 8, Katie Foster had three block assists in the match.

In the second match of the day MSJC again lost in straight sets, this time by scores of 25-20, 26-24, and 25-10.  Latteri again led the team in kills with 21, Brandy Olive had 4 in the defeat.  Schaffer collected 25 assists for the Lady Eagles and Cork had a team high 17 digs while Foster added two solo blocks at the net.

The losses drop MSJC to 0-7 on the season while Mt. SAC improved to 4-1 and RCC improved to 4-0.  The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Chula Vista to take on Southwestern in their 2015 Pacific Coast Conference opener.  Game time on Friday is set for 5 pm.

 

Sabrina Latteri had 11 and 21 kills on Friday for the MSJC volleyball team, but the Lady Eagles came up short losing to Mt. SAC and RCC in straight sets.
