Lady Eagle Volleyball Team Falls in Four

The MSJC volleyball team played a very close match on Wednesday night, but lost in four tightly contested sets to St. Katherine College 3-1.camrynbootsma-2017.jpg

The Lady Eagles played hard in the opening set, but came out on the short end of a 28-26 score.  St. Katherine also took the second set 25-18, before MSJC rallied to win the third 25-20.  The fourth set was another back and forth struggle that took extra time to decide with St. Katherine once again pulling out a 28-26 win to secure the victory in the match at 3-1.

Lauren Robertson had a team high 11 kills in the loss while Luann O'Kane had 10.  Sophomore setter Camryn Bootsma had a very strong all around night as she dished out 30 assists, picked up 16 digs, and had 2 block assists.  O'Kane added to the defensive effort with a team high 17 digs while Jordan Kovich and Ashlyn Ferriera both picked up 14 digs.

The loss drops MSJC to 5-4 on the season.  The Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday September 22nd when they travel to San Diego to take part in the Mesa College Quad.  MSJC will take on Mesa at 11 am and then have a rematch with Citrus College at 1 pm.  The Lady Eagles defeated Citrus earlier this year at a tournament in Riverside.

MSJC sophomore setter Camryn Bootsma had 30 assists, 16 digs, and 2 block assists on Wednesday, but the Lady Eagle volleyball team lost to St. Katherine 3-1.
