Lady Eagle Volleyball Team Wins Two More, Make it Six in a Row

The MSJC women's volleyball team won two close matches over the weekend at Victor Valley College to push their winning streak to six straight.bootsmavvcitrus.jpg

The Lady Eagles defeated Victor Valley on Friday in 5 sets as they stormed back from a 2-1 deficit to earn the victory.  MSJC was pushed to the brink in the fourth set, but were able to out last the Rams 30-28 to force the fifth and deciding set.  The fifth also took some extra play to determine a winner, but the Lady Eagles came out on top 20-18.  In the VVC match Luann O'Kane and Jade Bell led the way offensively.  O'Kane smashed down 22 kills while Bell added 19.  Camryn Bootsma had a match high 53 assists.  O'Kane also led the way on defense with 24 digs, 3 solo blocks and 2 block assists.  Jeannie Hifo picked up 17 digs in the win while Bootsma had 15.

In the second match of the day MSJC held off a determined Citrus team to win once again in five sets.  The Lady Eagles' victory over Citrus was their third win over the Owls this season.  MSJC once again had their backs against the wall as they lost the first two sets by scores of 23-25 and 12-25, before rallying to win three straight 25-23, 25-22, and 15-12.  O'Kane once again led in kills with 17 while Bell had 14 and Lauren Robertson chipped in with 11.  Bootsma passed out 29 assists while Hannah Schaffer finished with 18.  Bell also had 7 digs and 5 block assists in the win.

The Lady Eagles improved their record on the season to 10-4 with the two victories  and will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to San Diego City.  MSJC's match with the Knights is set to begin at 5 pm.


Camryn Bootsma had 82 assists in two matches over the weekend to help the MSJC women's volleyball team push their winning streak on the season to 6 as they defeated Victor Valley and Citrus to improve their record to 10-4 on the season.
