Lady Eagles Drop Tough Home Match in Volleyball

The MSJC volleyball team got off to a slow start on Friday night and couldn't quite recover as they lost 3-1 to visiting Mira Costa.

Mira Costa started off the match hot as they took advantage of some early Lady Eagle errors to take the first set 25-17.  MSJC would respond in the second set as Taylor Kushner slammed two straight kills to end the match in the Lady Eagles favor at 25-20.  In a tightly contested third set Mira Costa made the plays down the stretch to take a close one 25-22.  The fourth set was another close one as MSJC rallied back from an early deficit to tie the scored on four separate occasions before Mira Costa was able to pull out the 25-23 victory.

Kushner had a big night for the Lady Eagles as she recorded 26 kills, 15 digs , and 2 service aces.  Meghan Bartko added six kills for MSJC while Alyssia Theis had 39 assists and 11 digs.

The loss dropped the Lady Eagles to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference while Mira Costa improved to 7-7 and 4-3.  MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday October 22nd when they host San Diego Mesa in a 5 pm match.
