Lady Eagles Take Down SD City in Volleyball
The MSJC volleyball team started slowly on Wednesday night, but came back to win three straight sets as they defeated visiting San Diego City 3-1 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match.
The Lady Eagles lost the first set 18-25, before finding their footing to dominate the rest of the night. MSJC took the second set 25-14 and the third 25-18 before closing out the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth. Taylor Kushner and Iesha Leota led the offense as Kushner had 21 kills and Leota recorded 18. Setter Alyssia Theis passed out 45 assists. Sam Salcido and Mercedes Bree led the way on defense with Salcido getting 23 digs and Bree collecting three solo blocks and had an assist on another.
The win pushed the Lady Eagles record to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in PCAC play while San Diego City fell to 9-7 and 6-4. MSJC will be back in action at home on Friday night when they host Imperial Valley. Friday's match will begin at 5 pm.
Mercedes Bree had 3 solo blocks and a block assist on Wednesday night as she helped the MSJC volleyball team to a 3-1 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference victory over visiting San Diego City College.
