Lady Eagles Win 10th Straight in Five Set Thriller
The MSJC women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to 10 matches in a row on Monday night as they out lasted a tough challenge from visiting Antelope Valley winning in five sets.
The Lady Eagles opened the night with a 25-18 win in the first set, but dropped the back and forth second set 25-27. MSJC seemed to seize control of the match in the third as they dominated their way to an easy 25-12 victory. Antelope Valley responded however by returning the favor in set number four as it was their turn to win easily 12-25. In the fifth and deciding set MSJC once again gained control and came away with a 15-10 set win to clinch the match.
Cashlee Hullar was the offensive star of the night as she knocked down 16 kills while teammate Ruby Ruiz had 8 and Iasia Bailey had 6. Lannie Maffucci collected 26 assists and Ariana Velasquez dished out 17. On defense Cynthia Arrango had a busy night picking up 26 digs while Adrianah Grajeda had a pair of solo blocks as well as block assists.
The win was the second of the season for MSJC over Antelope Valley, the two teams had previously met on September 14th with the Lady Eagles winning 3-1.
MSJC is now 10-0 on the season and have set a program record for consecutive victories. Antelope Valley falls to 3-4 on the year. The Lady Eagles will be right back in action at home on Wednesday night when they host San Diego City at 5 pm. San Diego City comes into Wednesday's match with a 9-4 record.
MSJC's Cashlee Hullar had 16 kills on Monday night to lead the Lady Eagles volleyball team to a five set win over Antelope Valley. MSJC now 10-0 on the season will play at home again on Wednesday night when they host San Diego City beginning at 5 pm.
