MSJC Volleyball Can't Overcome Slow Start in Regional Opener
The MSJC women's volleyball team's historic season came to an end on Saturday night as they lost a CCCAA Southern California Regional match on the road to Mt. San Antonio.
The Lady Eagles who were making the first play-off appearance in program history lost to the Mounties in the opening round in straight sets. Mt. SAC came out aggressively and MSJC had a bit of a slow start as they lost the opening set 15-25. The Lady Eagles rebounded somewhat in the second, but fell 20-25 and then dropped the third 14-25.
Dayanerrah Taoete led the Lady Eagle offense on Saturday with 10 kills. Luann O'Kane finished with 6 kills and Alexxis Carrillo had 5. Hannah Schaffer passed out a team best 15 assists for MSJC while O'Kane picked up 14 digs. Jeannie Hifo and Camryn Bootsma both also reached double figures in digs with 12 a piece.
The loss concludes the Lady Eagles season with a record of 15-11, Mt. SAC improved to 20-3 on the year and now advance to take on LA Pierce College in the Regional Round of 16.
