MSJC Volleyball Drops Conference Opener
The MSJC women's volleyball team opened up Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play on Friday and came up short on the road, losing 3-0 to Mira Costa.
The Lady Eagles lost 25-21 in the first set, 26-24 in a tightly contested second set, and then were defeated 25-13 in the third to complete the sweep. Alexxis Carrillo led the MSJC offense on the night with 9 kills, Luann O'Kane added 6. Camryn Bootsma and Hannah Schaffer shared the setting duties on the evening with Bootsma finishing the match with 12 assists while Schaffer had 11. Jeannie Hifo had a team best 14 digs and Lauren Robertson added a solo block on defense. Dayanerrah Taoete made her season debut after returning from injury for the Lady Eagles and had 4 kills and 4 digs in her first match of 2016.
The conference opening loss makes the Lady Eagles overall record on the season 10-6, 0-1 in PCAC North play. Mira Costa improved to 1-0 in the conference and 16-2 on the year. MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday October 12th when they host San Bernardino Valley College. This is just the Lady Eagles second home match of the season. Wednesday's match will begin at 5 pm on the San Jacinto Campus.
