The MJSC volleyball team saw their four match winning streak end on Wednesday night as they fell to #3 ranked Grossmont in straight sets in El Cajon.
The two teams battled in the first set of an important Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match before Grossmont was able to hang on for a 25-22 win. The Lady Eagles couldn't quite get their offense going in the second and third sets as the Griffons took the second 25-18 and the third 25-17.
MSJC did manage 26 kills in the match led by Taylor Kushner, the reigning PCAC Female Athlete of the Week, with 17 and Iesha Leota was next for the Lady Eagles with 4. Setter Alissya Theis finished her night with 18 assists and 12 digs.
MSJC, who had won four matches in a row, is now 11-4 overall on the season and 4-2 in PCAC action. Grossmont stayed perfect on the year as they improved to 15-0 and 6-0. The Lady Eagles will finish out the first round of conference play with home games on Friday October 17th and Wednesday October 22nd. Friday night MSJC hosts Mira Costa and Wednesday the Lady Eagles take on San Diego Mesa. Both matches will start at 5 pm.
Taylor Kushner had 17 kills and 13 digs (both team highs) on Wednesday night, but it was not enough as the Lady Eagles volleyball team lost 3-0 to Grossmont, the state's third ranked team in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match.
