MSJC Volleyball Pushes Streak to 9
The MSJC volleyball team extended their season opening winning streak to nine on Friday as they swept Cuyumaca on the road in El Cajon.
The Lady Eagles dominated the match from start to finish winning by scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 25-14.
MSJC used a balanced offensive attack led by Ruby Ruiz who had a match high 12 kills. Adrianah Grajeda had 6 kills while Cashlee Hullar and Jami Loerch each added 5. Setters Lannie Maffucci and Ariana Velasquez had 17 and 16 assists in the victory. Faith Galvan and Cynthia Arrango led the defensive charge with 8 digs a piece and Loerch had 2 solo blocks and a block assist.
The win makes the Lady Eagles 9-0 on the season while Cuyamaca fell to 6-6. MSJC has a busy week beginning tonight (Sept. 24th) with a home match against Antelope Valley at 6 pm. The Lady Eagles will also be home on Wednesday when they host San Diego City in a 5 pm contest before they head on the road Friday to San Diego Mesa where they will play both Mesa and Grossmont. The matches in San Diego on Friday are scheduled for 1 pm and 2:30.
