The MSJC volleyball team lost a tough match on Friday night in San Marcos to Palomar College 3-1 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference contest.
The Comets started strong with a 25-18 win in the first set, but from then on each set was hotly contested. The Lady Eagles evened the match in the second set winning 25-23, before Palomar would take the third 25-21, and then close out the match with their own 25-23 win.
Taylor Kushner had 18 kills for the Lady Eagles while Iesha Leota had 8 and Alyssia Theis had 7. Theis also led the team with 35 assists. Sam Salcido had a team high 30 digs in the match while Kriston Hilkey added 19 and Kushner contributed with 15.
The loss dropped MSJC to 12-6 overall on the year and 5-4 in the PCAC while Palomar improved to 13-3 and 7-2. MSJC had defeated Palomar in three straight earlier in the season. The Lady Eagles will be at home twice this week as they take on San Diego City College on Wednesday and Imperial Valley on Friday. Both matches begin at 5 pm.
