MSJC Volleyball Wins Two Matches at Pasadena
The MSJC women's volleyball team won two matches on Wednesday as they defeated Ventura and Citrus at the Pasadena Tournament.
The Lady Eagles had a slow start to the first match as they lost the first set against Ventura 25-18, but rallied back to win the next three by scores of; 25-20, 25-17, and 25-20. Luann O'Kane and Jade Bell each had 10 kills in the match while Lauren Robertson added 8 and Alexxis Carrillo had 7. Camryn Bootsma dished out 18 assists and Hannah Schaffer had 13. On defense Jeannie Hifo had a team best 13 digs and O'Kane had 10 digs, one solo block, and 3 block assists.
In the second match of the night against Citrus the Lady Eagles again started slowly, this time dropping the first two sets before bouncing back to win three straight and win the match 3-2. The Owls took the first set 28-26 and the second 25-19 before MSJC took the final three by scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 15-12. O'Kane once again led the offense with 21 kills and Robertson had 20. Bootsma had a match high 44 assists in the victory while Hifo picked up 26 digs.
The two victories improved the Lady Eagles record on the season to 7-4. MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to LA Harbor for a 7 PM match.
