MSJC Volleyball Wins in Four at Palomar

The MSJC volleyball team moved into sole possession of second place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division standings on Wednesday with a 3-1 win on the road at Palomar.vballforPalomar1-18.jpg

The Lady Eagles lost the first set 22-25, before rallying to win three in a row.  MSJC took the second set 25-20 and then rolled to wins in the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-11.  Cashlee Hullar led the offensive charge for MSJC with 14 kills, Ruby Ruiz was next with 9 and both Lauryn Patterson and Iasia Bailey had 8 kills a piece.  The setting combination of Lannie Maffucci and Ariana Velasquez had 43 assists. Cynthia Arrango had a match high 21 digs to lead the defense while the Lady Eagles combined for 7 solo blocks and 4 block assists.  Jamie Loerch and Hullar both had 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists a piece.

The win moved MSJC into sole possession of second place, one loss behind first place MiraCosta and one win ahead of third place College of the Desert.  The Lady Eagles are now 4-1 in PCAC matches and 15-3 overall, Palomar fell to 2-3 in the league and 4-12 for the season.

MSJC returns to actin Friday night when they host San Diego Miramar in a 5 pm match on the San Jacinto Campus.  The Lady Eagles defeated Miramar back on  October 3rd in straight sets.
