Pair of MSJC Volleyball Players Sign Scholarships
Two MSJC women's volleyball players signed scholarships on Wednesday to continue their careers at the next level.
Dayanerrah Taoete and Hannah Schaffer both signed scholarships to NAIA institutions within the state as Taoete will head to Hope International University and Schaffer to LaSierra.
Taoete was a two time First Team All Pacific Coast Athletic Conference selection in her career at MSJC. She averaged just shy of three kills per set this past season after bouncing back from an injury that kept her sidelined for the first half of the season. Hope International is a member of the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) and located in Fullerton. Dayanerrah is a graduate of Heritage High School in Menifee.
Schaffer, an alum of Paloma Valley HS in Menifee, was a Second Team All Conference pick as a sophomore for the Lady Eagles. She dished out 271 assists on the season from her setter position and also had 16 total blocks. LaSierra University located in Riverside is coming off a season in which their volleyball team posted a 15-13 record. LaSierra is a member of the California Pacific Conference.
These two young ladies along with their teammates helped MSJC to their first ever CCCAA play-off appearance during the 2016 season. The Lady Eagles finished the year with an overall record of 15-11 and finished second in the competitive Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's North Division.
