Pasadena Halts MSJC Volleyball Winning Streak
The MSJC volleyball team saw their five match winning streak come to an end on Thursday night as they lost a non-conference match on the road to Pasadena City College 3-1.
The first set was closely contested with the Lancers finally coming away with a 27-25 win. The Lady Eagles bounced back to win the second set 25-22, but then were not able to seize the momentum as Pasadena took both the third (25-22) and fourth (25-14) sets to close out the match.
Luann O'Kane led a balanced MSJC offense with 9 kills, Lauren Robertson was next with 8. Kayley Stephens and Jami Loerch both had 7 kills in a losing effort. Setters Lannie Maffucci (17) and Camryn Bootsma (14) combined for 31 assists. On defense Ashlyn Ferriera picked up a match high 30 digs while both Stephens and O'Kane had a pair of block assists.
The loss stopped the Lady Eagles five match winning streak and dropped their record to 5-3 on the season while the Lancers improved to 4-5 on the year. MSJC will be back in action next Wednesday when they play a road match against St. Katherine's.
MSJC's Cashlee Hullar had 5 kills and 6 digs on Thursday night for the Lady Eagle volleyball team, but MSJC came up short in a road match at Pasadena 3-1.
