SD City Defeats MSJC Volleyball Team
The MSJC volleyball team couldn't get over the hump on Friday night as they lost in straight sets to visiting San Diego City College in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match.
The Knights won the first set by a score of 25-17 and then were able to take the second and third by identical 25-21 scores over the Lady Eagles.
Mercedes Bree led the offense for MSJC with a team high 13 kills on the night. Sabrina Latteri added 8 kills and Alexxis Carrillo had 5. Johanna Simon had 18 assists and Hannah Schaffer had 8 for the Lady Eagles. Three MSJC players reached double figures in digs led by Latteri with 17, Mackenzie Johnson added 14 and Dayanerra Taoete had 10.
The loss drops the Lady Eagles overall record on the season to 2-13, they are 1-5 in PCAC play. San Diego City improved to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in conference. MSJC will be on the road twice this week as they travel to Imperial Valley on Wednesday and Cuyumaca on Friday. Both road matches this week are scheduled for 5 pm.
