Volleyball Loses Two Tough Ones to End Regular Season

The MSJC volleyball team lost on back to back days Wednesday and Thursday, but still concluded the regular season with a very strong 16-9 overall record.

Wednesday night the Lady Eagles fell to Mira Costa in straight sets in a match in Oceanside and then on Thursday MSJC battled for five sets before losing a tough one in San Diego to Mesa College.

Taylor Kushner led the offense Wednesday with 17 kills while Iesha Leota added 10.  Alyssia Theis had a match high 31 assists in the loss.  Kushner and Leota again led the team in kills on Thursday as they picked up 22 and 12 respectively.  Theis had 38 assists and Ashley Cork was solid on defense with 28 digs.

The two losses wrapped up the regular season for the Lady Eagles and now they will await word to see if they are selected to the Southern California Regional.  MSJC ended up in fifth place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a league mark of 9-6.
