Volleyball Picks Up Two More Sweeps to Move to 5-0

The MSJC volleyball team kept their early season momentum going on Saturday as they won two matches at home over Imperial Valley and Santiago Canyon.volleyballforIVC-Santiago-18.jpg

The Lady Eagles started the day with a 3-0 sweep of Imperial Valley winning by scores of 25-25, 25-22, and 25-17.  The offense had five players with between five and seven kills to keep IVC off balance in the victory.  Jami Loerch and Ruby Ruiz both had 7 kills while Cashlee Hullar and Lauryn Patterson each recorded 6 and Iasia Biley chipped in with 5.  Lannie Maffucci and Ariana Velasquez both passed out 16 assists each.  Cynthia Arrango was solid on defense picking up a team high 15 digs  while Ruiz added 10 and Bailey had a pair of solo blocks.

In their second contest of the day MSJC again won in straight sets, this time over Santiago Canyon by scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 25-15.  Hullar had a team best 8 kills in the win while Ruiz was next with 7.  Maffucci had an 18 assist performance and Arrango picked up 15 digs for the second straight match.  The Lady Eagles defense​ at the net was strong as the team combined for 4 solo blocks and 4 block assists in the win.

The pair of victories improved the Lady Eagles season record to 5-0.  MSJC returns to action on Friday when they travel to Pasadena for two matches.  The Lady Eagles will take on Antelope Valley at noon and will play Citrus at 2:30.

The MSJC women's volleyball team improved to 5-0 with a pair of home wins Saturday as they defeated Imperial Valley and Santiago Canyon both in straight sets.  The Lady Eagles will next travel to Pasadena on Friday where they will take on Antelope Valley at noon and Citrus at 2:30.  (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC)
