Volleyball Sweeps Santiago Canyon in Home Match

The MSJC volleyball team started quickly Saturday night and kept it going as they swept visiting Santiago Canyon 3-0 in a non-conference home match.

The Lady Eagles got off to an early 1-0 match lead with an easy 25-11 first set victory.  MSJC would go on to win the second 25-12 and the third 25-13 for the victory.  Jade Bell had a big night for the Lady Eagles as she put down a team best 11 kills while also picking up 13 digs, two solo blocks, and one block assist.  Luann O'Kane and Lauren Robertson also contributed to the offense with 8 kills a piece.  O'Kane also starred on the defensive side of the net as she picked up a match high 18 digs.  Camryn Bootsma and Hannah Schaffer did a nice job spreading the ball out as Bootsma finished with 17 assists and Schaffer had 14.

The win improved MSJC to 5-4 on the season while Santiago Canyon drops to 1-2.  The Lady Eagles will return to action on Wednesday September 14th when they travel to the Pasadena Tournament where they will take on Ventura and Citrus.  Wednesday's match with Ventura is set to begin at 4 pm and MSJC's match with Citrus is slated for 7.
