Volleyball Team's Win Streak Snapped at SD City

The MSJC volleyball team saw their six match winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night as they lost 3-1 on the road at San Diego City.carrillorobertsonsdcity-16.jpg

The Lady Eagles lost a close first set 25-22 before bouncing back to win the second by a score of 25-23.  The Knights did however win the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-20 to win the match.

Lauren Robertson led the Lady Eagle offense on the evening with 18 kills while Luann O'Kane had 11.  Setters Hannah Schaffer and Camryn Bootsma combined to have 35 assists with Schaffer recording 19 and Bootsma 15.  Jeannie Hifo had a team best 19 digs while O'Kane added 14 as well as 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists.  Alexxis Carrillo also had 2 solo blocks and a pair of block assists.

The loss drops the Lady Eagles season record to 10-5 while San Diego City improved to 7-5.  MSJC will open Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play next Friday October 7th when they travel to Oceanside to take on Mira Costa.




MSJC's #10 Alexxis Carrillo had 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists on Wednesday night while teammate Lauren Robertson (#15) had a team high 18 kills, but the Lady Eagle volleyball team lost for the first time in the last 7 matches as they fell at San Diego City 3-1. (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC)
