Volleyball Team Drops Another Five Setter
The MSJC women's volleyball team gave themselves a chance to win again on Wednesday night, but came up just short at Pasadena City College losing to the Lancers in five sets.
Pasadena jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking the first set 25-17, but the Lady Eagles responded by taking the second 25-23 to even the match. Pasadena pushed back ahead 2-1 with a third set victory by a score of 25-20, and looked poised to win the match in the fourth when they took a 18-10 lead over MSJC. The Lady Eagles however, dug deep and rallied to force a fifth set by outscoring the Lancers 15-5 in the late stages of the fourth set to win 25-23. Pasadena would take advantage of some Lady Eagle mistakes to win the fifth and deciding set 15-11.
Sabrina Latteri had 14 kills to lead the MSJC offense while Mercedes Bree add 11 and Sydney Church had 8. Dayanerrah Taoete had a match high 35 assists. On defense Ashley Cork recorded a match high 26 digs and Latteri added 21.
The loss drops MSJC to 0-5 on the season while Pasadena picked up the victory in their season opener. The Lady Eagles will be back in action next Friday September 11th when travel to Riverside to take part in the one day Riverside Invitational. MSJC will play Mt. SAC on Friday at 2 pm and then take on Riverside at 5.
