Volleyball Team Drops Heartbreaker


The MSJC women's volleyball team concluded their regular season on Wednesday wErin Elamith a 5 set loss to visiting Victor Valley College.

The Lady Eagles won game one 25-18 before dropping the second 22-25. The third and fourth games both included some heart stopping action as MSJC took game three 27-25 and the Rams came back to take game four by the identical score. In game five the Lady Eagles got off to a quick start, but couldn't hold on to the lead and fell 15-11.

The loss dropped the Lady Eagles record to 19-15 overall and 8-4 in Foothill Conference play. MSJC finished the regular season tied for second place in the conference with Victor Valley. The 8-4 record in Foothill Conference play is the best at the school since an 11-5 season in 2001 and is just the third time since 1992 that the Lady Eagle volleyball team has finished with a winning conference record.

In Wednesday's match Kellie Diekiewiet had 19 kills while teammate Virginia Pena added 14. Erin Elam finished the night with 20 digs.
