Volleyball Team Earns Road Win at IVC
The MSJC volleyball team picked up their second Pacific Coast Athletic Conference victory of the season on Wednesday as they defeated Imperial Valley on the road in four sets.
The Lady Eagles jumped out fast as they won the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-18. IVC would rally to take the third 25-20, but MSJC put the match away in the fourth with a 25-21 victory. Sabrina Latteri, who has led the Lady Eagle offense most of the season, was once again the team's kills leader as she recorded 19 on the evening. Dayanerrah Taoete added 13 kills and Mercedes Bree had 11. Johannah Simon passed out most of the offense as she collected 42 assists in the victory. Ashley Cork led the Eagles on defense with a match high 37 digs, while Latteri and Taoete both reached double figures as well in digs with 17 and 12 each.
The victory improved the Lady Eagles overall season mark to 3-13 they moved to 2-5 in PCAC play. Imperial fell to 4-12 overall and are also 2-5 in conference action. MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Cuyamaca for a 5 pm match in El Cajon. The Lady Eagles will return home next Wednesday October 21st when they host Southwestern in a 5 pm contest on the San Jacinto Campus.
MSJC sophomore Mercedes Bree had 11 kills on Wednesday to help the Lady Eagle volleyball team to a four set victory in a PCAC match at Imperial Valley.
