The MSJC volleyball team played in front of a very high energy crowd on Wednesday night, but ended up dropping their Pacific Coast Athletic Conference contest to Palomar 3-1.
The Comets took the first set 25-19, but the Lady Eagles rallied to win the second 25-21 to even the match. MSJC could not maintain the momentum though and lost the third set by a score of 25-20. Palomar put the match away in the fourth set as they won 25-14.
Mercedes Bree, Sabrina Latteri, and Dayanerrah Taoete each had 8 kills to lead the offense for the Lady Eagles. Johannah Simon passed out a team high 18 assists. Ashley Cork had 22 digs to help the MSJC defense while Bree, Taoete, and Katie Foster all had a solo block in the match.
The loss drops MSJC to 2-12 overall on the season and 1-4 in PCAC play, while Palomar improved to 7-4, and 4-1. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they host San Diego City in a 5 pm match on the San Jacinto Campus.
Mercedes Bree had 8 kills, 6 digs, a solo block, and a block assist Wednesday night, but the Lady Eagle volleyball team lost in four sets to visiting Palomar College. MSJC returns home on Friday to take on San Diego City. (Photo-DeeAnn Bradley-MSJC)
