Volleyball Team Right Back on Winning Track

The MSJC volleyball team responded to their first two losses of the season on Wednesday with an easy road win at San Diego Miramar to open conference play.rubyruizformiramar1-18.jpg

The Lady Eagles jumped all over the Jets in the first set winning 25-10.  MSJC would go on to take the second set 25-21 and the third 25-18 to secure the victory.  Wednesday's match was the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division opener for both teams.  Ruby Ruiz led the offense with 6 kills while three of her teammates; Adrianah Grajeda, Cashlee Hullar, and Lauryn Patterson all had 5.  Lannie Maffucci and Ariana Velasquez continued their solid play from the setter position as they passed out 15 and 12 assists.  Cynthia Arrango had 13 digs for the Lady Eagles and Grajeda, Faith Galvan, and Iasia Bailey all picked up a solo block.

The win moves MSJC to 12-2 overall on the season and 1-0 in PCAC North play while Miramar fell to 1-11 and 0-1.  The win also sets up big back to back matches for the Lady Eagles against a pair of ranked teams.  MSJC will host College of the Desert Friday night at 5 pm and then travel to Oceanside to take on MiraCo​sta next Wednesday for a 6 pm match.  Desert will come in to Friday night's match ranked #22 in the State, they are 13-1 overall and 1-0 in PCAC North action.  MiraCosta is currently ranked #18 in the State and are 11-2 for the season and 1-0 in conference play.

MSJC's Ruby Ruiz #9 had a team high 6 kills to go along with 6 digs on Wednesday as the Lady Eagle volleyball team opened PCAC North play with a 3-0 win over San Diego Miramar in a road contest.  MSJC will now face back to back ranked teams starting with College of the Desert in a home match on Friday.  The match on Friday will begin at 5 pm.  (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC)
