Fast Start Leads to Easy Victory for Women's Hoops
The MSJC women's basketball team jumped out to a 38-6 lead after the first quarter on their way to an easy 112-47 win over visiting College of the Desert Friday night.
The Lady Eagles would build the lead all the way to 63-16 at halftime and 96-27 after three quarters on their way to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division win. Five players reached double figures in scoring for MSJC and all 12 players who played in the game scored at least two points. Randi Johnson led the way on offense as she scored a game high 22 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Kristian Dewitt just missed a double double as she scored 18 points and grabbed 9 boards. Kaila Gower came off the bench to score 13 for the Lady Eagles while Delacy Brown scored 12 points had 7 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Marissa Williams also reached double digits with 10 points and Jaquel Quest led the team in rebounds with 10.
The win improved MSJC to 23-4 overall on the season and 5-2 in the PCAC North. The Lady Eagles have two regular season games remaining with a road contest at San Bernardino Valley on Wednesday and a home game against San Diego City on Friday. Wednesday's road game will begin at 7 pm. Friday night MSJC will celebrate "Sophomore Night" with tip-off set for 5 pm.
