First Half Propels MSJC Women

The MSJC women's basketball team maintained their one game lead in the Foothill Conference with a 90-56 win Wednesday at Rio Hondo College.

The Lady Eagles rode a strong first half to the victory as they outscored the Roadrunners 50-22 in the opening 20 minutes. Five MSJC players reached double figures in scoring led by Tiffany Smith with 22 points. Tiffany was also one of three Lady Eagles to pull in double digit rebounds with 11. Danielle Smith added 20 points and 7 assists while Autumn Spikes scored 16 points. Kyna Lewis recorded a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Autum Jenkins also hit double figures with 10 points off the bench. Nicole Villalobos pulled down a team high 14 rebounds for MSJC.

The win improved the Lady Eagles overall record to 21-4 and moved their conference mark to 10-1. MSJC currently leads both San Bernardino Valley and Antelope Valley in the conference standings by one game. The Lady Eagles host Antelope Valley on Friday night at 5 pm.
