Five Lady Eagle Hoopsters Recognized by PCAC

The MSJC women's basketball team is headed into the play-offs this weekend with a 24-5 record and on Sunday five Lady Eagle players were honored by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference when the 2015 All Conference team was announced.sheaallconf.jpg

Sophomores Johnette Brown, Erin Stanford, and DeShea Wilkes all were named First Team All PCAC while freshman Sarina Johnson earned Second Team honors and sophomore Lailahni Tuaila was tabbed Honorable Mention.

Brown garnered First Team All League honors for the second year in a row and finished the regular season as the Lady Eagles leading scorer and rebounder.  The 29 Palms High graduate averaged 11 points and 7.6 rebounds during the season for MSJC.  Fellow 29 Palms grad Stanford earned first team honors on the strength of her overall play from the point guard position for the Lady Eagles.  Stanford finished regular season play averaging 9.6 points per gamerinallconf.jpge, 5.4 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Wilkes of Murrieta Valley finished her regular season as MSJC's top three point shooter at 39.4% and averaged 9 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest.

Johnson a freshman from Hemet High earned Second Team honors by averaging 10 points per game, she also averaged over 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Tuaila from Hemet West Valley High finished the regular season at just under 8 points per game for MSJC and was one of the PCAC's top defensive players.

The Lady Eagles will open the Southern California Regional play-offs on Saturday when they travel to Bakersfield College for a 7 pm game.
