Four Lady Eagles Score in Double Figures in Win at Rio

The MSJC women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack on Saturday as they defeashrio.jpgated Rio Hondo College in Whittier 73-51.

In a game that remained competitive for the first 30 minutes MSJC used late runs in both halves to pick up their 5th Foothill Conference

victory of the season.  After a slow start the Lady Eagles used 16-2 run late in the first half to take a 31-26 halftime lead.  In the second half MSJC was able to maintain the lead throughout despite a couple spirited runs by the Roadrunners.  The Lady Eagles pulled away in the last 10 minutes for the victory.

Ashley Jenkins paced the MSJC offense with 20 points, while Tina Fantroy and Nicholle Reyna each added 12.  Jasmine Jones also reached double figures with 11 points in the game.  Tina Fantroy also grabbed a team high 9 rebounds while her sister Faith Fantroy added 8 boards and 8 assists in the victory.

The Lady Eagles are now 18-4 on the season and 5-2 in Foothill Conference play.  MSJC is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Lancaster to take on Antelope Valley.  Game time on Wednesday is 5 pm.
