Johnson Latest Lady Eagle Basketball Player to Sign Scholarship

Carla Johnson became the fifth member of the 2018 CCCAA State Championship MSJC women's basketball team to earn a scholarship today when she signed with Rust College.carlasigns1-18.jpg

Johnson earned First Team All Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division honors for her play during this past season.  Johnson averaged 6.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists which was second on the team for the year.  Carla started 23 of the Lady Eagles' games during the 2017-18 season including the final 12.  During her two year stint as a member of the team Carla helped MSJC to a 58-7 record.  During her freshman season Johnson played in all 31 games her team played as the Lady Eagles reached the CCCAA Regional Finals and finished the season 26-5, this year the team posted a 32-2 record on their way to the State title.

Rust College is a Historically Black College (HBC) founded in 1866 in Holly Springs, Mississippi.  The Lady Bearcats compete at the NAIA Division I level and are part of the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) and coached by Eric Jackson.

Johnson joins teammates; Delacy Brown (Cal Baptist), Britney Thomas (Cal Baptist), Kaila Gower (Cal State San Marcos), and Madeline Morrow (Northeastern State OK) as players from this year's MSJC team moving on to the next level with scholarships.  The Lady Eagles hope to add four more names to the list in the next couple of weeks.


MSJC women's basketball player Carla Johnson became the fifth player from this year's team to accept a scholarship for next year today when she signed with Rust College.  Rust is an NAIA Division I school located in Holly Springs, Mississippi.
