Lady Eagle Basketball Team's Strong Second Half Leads to Victory
The MSJC women's basketball team picked up a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference home win on Wednesday night as they beat visiting Imperial Valley 90-59.
The Lady Eagles struggled to convert some close range shots in the first half and led at halftime by just seven points 36-29. MSJC got their offense on track in the second half, scoring 31 points in the third quarter and 23 in the fourth to pull away for the victory. Four Lady Eagles scored in double figures led by Sarina Johnson who had a game high 25 points, which included six three point field goals. Britney Thomas shook off a slow start to finish with a double double as she had 16 points and 12 boards. Crystal Malveaux added 13 points and 6 assists for MSJC while Genaya Wilkinson also recorded a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The win improved the top ranked Lady Eagles record to 24-0 on the season and 9-0 in PCAC play while Imperial fell to 8-14 and 2-7. MSJC will be on the road for a pivotal conference contest on Friday when they travel to San Marcos to take on second place Palomar. Friday night's game at Palomar is set to tip-off at 7 pm.
