Lady Eagle Basketball Wins on the Road
The MSJC women's basketball team started strong and finished strong on Wednesday night as they picked up a 69-37 win on the road at San Diego Mesa in a PCAC North-South crossover contest.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early lead of 22-10 after the first quarter and pushed their advantage to 44-17 by halftime. Britney Neely got MSJC off to the quick start with 7 first period points and eight different Lady Eagles scored in the second to jump start the offense. Mesa had their best 10 minutes of the night in the third quarter as they cut the lead to 54-37 after 30 minutes, but the MSJC defense answered by shutting out the Olympians in the fourth quarter out scoring the home team 15-0 over the final period for the win.
Sharonda Edwards led the MSJC offense on the night with 13 points, while Haylei Janssens recorded a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Eagles had 13 players in the game that saw at least 10 minutes of action and 11 of them got on the scoreboard. De'Adra Ross helped MSJC to a 59-35 rebounding advantage with a game high 11 boards and Alexus Williams sparked the Lady Eagles off the bench with 6 points and 4 rebounds in just 10 minutes of action.
The win improves the Lady Eagles to 14-6 on the season. MSJC will kick off Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play on Friday when they travel to Oceanside to take on MiraCosta. Friday's game will be the back end of a doubleheader in Oceanside with the men's team with the first game tipping off at 5 pm and the second scheduled for
