Lady Eagles Defense and Balanced Scoring Lead to Road Win
The MSJC women's basketball team played stifling defense on Friday night on their way to a 70-28 win at Imperial Valley College in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game.
The Lady Eagles led by a score of 14-4 after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 33-8 by halftime as they overcame some poor shooting by out rebounding the Arabs 58-19 on the night. MSJC used a balanced offensive attack as all 11 players who played in the contest had at least two points. Britney Thomas led the way with a double double as she scored 13 points and pulled in 13 rebounds. Randi Johnson came off the bench to add 10 points for the Lady Eagles. Genaya Wilkinson just missed her second straight double double as she had 8 points to go along with 13 boards. Christina Grant added 8 points and 8 rebounds while MSJC point guard Crystal Malveaux had 8 points and 5 assists in the victory.
The win pushed the Lady Eagles mark to 17-0 overall on the season and 2-0 in PCAC play. Imperial Valley fell to 6-9 overall and 0-1 in conference action. MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on Palomar College in a 5 pm home game.
