Lady Eagles Hit Century Mark in Win Over Grossmont
For the second straight Wednesday night the MSJC women's basketball team scored 105 points at home on their way to a victory, last night it was a 105-53 win over visiting Grossmont College.
The Lady Eagles built a 29-13 lead after the first quarter and bumped the lead to 58-24 by the half. In the third period it was more of the same as MSJC out scored the Griffins 28-14 in the third as they cruised to the victory.
MSJC used a balanced offensive attack led by Crystal Malveaux who had a game high 22 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the field, she also hauled in a team high 10 rebounds. Randi Johnson added 17 points and 8 boards for the Lady Eagles while Kaila Gower and Nokomis Cabrera both scored 12 points a piece. Delacy Brown controlled the game from the point guard position as she scored 11 points and dished out 8 assists. Marissa Williams and Kristian Dewitt just missed double figures in scoring with 9 each and Genezza Rose Manlulu had 7.
The win improved MSJC's record on the season to 17-2. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Friday night when they travel to Chula Vista to take on Southwestern. Friday's game at Southwestern is set to tip off at 5 pm.
