Lady Eagles Roll Past COD in Women's Hoops
The MSJC women's basketball team hit the 20 win plateau for the 11th straight season on Wednesday night as they picked up a conference road win over College of the Desert 118-54.
The Lady Eagles were able to get off to a strong offensive start in the contest building a lead of 38-15 after the first quarter. MSJC was able to push the lead to 62-32 by halftime. Six different Lady Eagles reached double figures in scoring and 11 players had at least two points in the victory. Nokomis Cabrera led the way for MSJC with 26 points, she scored 21 of them in the first half to lead to the quick start. Kaila Gower added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the Lady Eagles while Randi Johnson added 15 points. Kristian Dewitt had 14 points in the win while Crystal Malveaux added 12 to go along with 6 assists. Delacy Brown also scored in double digits with 11.
The win pushed the Lady Eagles record to 20-3 overall on the season they are 2-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division games. The MSJC women's team has now won at least 20 games in each of the past 11 seasons. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Friday night when they host San Bernardino Valley in the front end of a doubleheader with the men's team. The women's game is set to tip off Friday at 5 pm with the men's game to follow at 7.
