Lady Eagles Win at San Diego City
The MSJC women's basketball team shook off a slow start on Friday night to defeat San Diego City 85-49 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game in San Diego.
The Lady Eagles led by just six at the end of the first quarter 20-14, but out scored the Knights 50-20 in the second and third quarters to secure the victory. MSJC had four players reach double figures in scoring on the day led by Britney Thomas who scored a game high 22. Thomas also pulled in a game high 9 rebounds for the Lady Eagles. Christina Grant and Nokomis Cabrera both had 12 points in the victory. Cabrera made four of five three point shots off the bench. Crystal Malveaux controlled the game from the point guard position with 11 points and 9 assists without making a turnover.
The Lady Eagles are now 19-0 overall on the season and 4-0 in PCAC play. MSJC, who is currently ranked #1 in the latest CCCWBCA Southern California Regional poll, will be in action twice this week. MSJC hosts Grossmont on Wednesday at 5 pm with the men playing at home the same night at 7, and Friday the Lady Eagles travel to Mira Costa for a 5 pm tip0off.
