MSJC Women's Basketball Team Wins Opener
The MSJC women's basketball team opened their season Friday night with a home victory 108-44 over San Diego Mesa in the first round of the San Jacinto Lion's Club Tournament.
The Lady Eagles started quickly and built a 31-11 lead after the first quarter. MSJC would push the lead all the way to 59-23 by halftime and cruised home with the victory. Britney Thomas led the offense for MSJC with 27 points going a perfect 12 for 12 from the field. Delacy Brown added 16 points while Kaila Gower had 14. Alyssa Walton also reached double figures in scoring off the bench with 12. Thomas also led the team in rebounds with 8 as the Lady Eagles out rebounded the Olympians 63-19 on the night. Carla Johnson had a well rounded game with 7 points, 7 rebounds, and a tem high 6 assists.
MSJC will continue the Lion's Club Tournament tonight when they host Antelope Valley at 6 pm. Other games in the tournament on Saturday are; Southwestern against Barstow at noon, Copper Mountain vs. San Diego Mesa at 2 pm, and the other championship semi-final at 4 pm features Chaffey against Palomar.
